Eagles’ Carson Wentz says watching Super Bowl LII was a ‘challenge’

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz acknowledged that it was “a challenge” to watch Super Bowl LII from the sidelines, calling it a lesson in humility and faith during a media session Tuesday to mark the start of the team’s offseason training program.

One minute Wentz was a top candidate for league MVP,wholesale nfl jerseys and the next he was out with a season-ending knee injury that shifted him into a support role while his backup, Nick Foles, helped deliver the city of Philadelphia its first Lombardi Trophy.

His relationship with Foles, though, helped ease the sting, he said, and should make for a less awkward situation as Wentz takes the reins back from the Super Bowl MVP.

“You’ve got to fight that,” said Wentz, speaking about any pangs of jealousy that came with Foles’ accomplishments in his stead. “It’s human nature to want to be on that podium and be that guy. You grow up wanting to do that as a kid, but to not be able to be up there, I would not rather have anyone else be up there than Nick.”188

Wentz has been making strides in his recovery from a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee, which he suffered against the Los Angeles Rams in December. He is in the “running progression” stage of his rehab and is “feeling good with where I’m at.” The target date for his return remains Week 1 of the regular season.

Should Wentz reach that goal, Foles will return to his role as the Eagles’ No. 2 quarterback, barring a trade. He recently expressed the desire to be a starter again during an interview with a Texas ABC affiliate while also highlighting the positives of remaining with the Eagles for another season.

“We love Philly. nfl jerseys from china I know there was some stuff going around [about] a possible trade, and I would love the opportunity to be a starter again,” Foles said. “I know my spot in Philly. I think I’ve shown what I can do. I’m signed for one more year and I love the team, I love the city. I’m excited for Carson to get back on his feet. I’ll be ready to go whenever they need me. But we’ll see; just living in the moment.”

Jonathan Schoop Placed on DL with Oblique Injury; Orioles Recall Alex Cobb

Baltimore Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday.

The team announced official nfl jerseys cheap Schoop has a strained right oblique, and starting pitcher Alex Cobb was called up to take his spot on the 25-man roster.

Schoop was removed from Friday’s 7-3 loss against the Boston Red Sox in the bottom of the eighth inning. He had struck out swinging to end the top of the seventh.

He has been extremely durable in recent years, missing only two games over the previous two seasons.165

In that time, he has also developed into one of the best in the majors at his position. He finished last season leading all second basemen with 105 RBI and ranking second with 32 home runs. He also set new career highs with a .293 batting average and .841 OPS while playing above-average defense.

He not only earned his first All-Star appearance in 2017, he also ranked 12th in MVP voting.

Schoop was off to a slow start in 2018 with a .230/.266/.344 slash line and one home run in 14 games.

While Schoop has made a positive impact for the Orioles at the plate and in the field, his injury could create a giant hole in the lineup. Baltimore has other top hitters like nfl authentic jerseys Manny Machado and Adam Jones, but depth is certainly an issue.

With Schoop unavailable, the Orioles could turn to Engelb Vielma.

Cobb, who signed a four-year, $57 million contract last month, will make his first start of the season against the Red Sox on Saturday. The veteran right-hander started 29 games for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2017, recording 12 wins, 128 strikeouts, a 3.66 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP in 179.1 innings.

Colts TE Eric Ebron sees ‘perfect fit’ with a healthy Andrew Luck

That’s the same reason running back Frank Gore came aboard back in the spring of 2015. Gore and Luck played a total of 22 games together in three seasons because of Luck’s injury problems.

The Colts, and Ebron, hope Luck won’t be spending the 2018 season on the sideline. nfl jerseys from china They need him back on the field after dealing with a shoulder injury for nearly the past three years.

“The reason why I came here is because of Andrew Luck, to keep it honest,” Ebron said. “It doesn’t really matter where I played or where I went, I just wanted a quarterback and someone that I knew could get me the ball and pretty much work with me the way that I knew that I needed to be worked with. And I think Andrew Luck was the perfect fit. Doing my research and my time upon him, I just felt like that was the perfect move for me was to come to Indianapolis and be a weapon for him.”

Ebron spent four seasons with the Detroit Lions, where he failed to live up to the expectations of being the No. 10 pick in the 2014 draft. It didn’t help that receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and defensive lineman Aaron Donald were selected two and three spots, respectively, after him. Ebron was released by the Lions last month after 186 receptions for 2,070 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Colts signed Ebron a week later.

“I’m here. I’m here,” Ebron said. “Frank Reich did a damn good job if I’m here. He knows how to sell you now. … He’s very, very strategic and very, very offensive-minded, which helps people like me in situations of where you want to create the mismatches and you want to do the things that help you evolve and be great. That’s what I like with what Frank said.”

Reich’s offense is predicated on exploiting mismatches. The Colts’ new head coach often did that with the tight ends while serving as Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator the past two seasons. Ebron will have the inside track on being the No. 2 tight end behind Pro Bowler Jack Doyle, to go with receiver T.Y. Hilton on the outside.

“I’ve done a lot of things at a very young age and I do have that as a positive,” Ebron said. “My deal is to just take it to the next level. At this place here, official nfl jerseys cheap I have a new start, I have a new finish. I have a new rep, and that alone means a lot. I look forward to making that rep a good one.”

ESPN draft analysts link Quenton Nelson, Roquan Smith to Bears

The Chicago Bears have yet to win many games in the Ryan Pace era, but there’s no disputing the fact that the Bears’ 41-year-old GM has some of the best general-manager hair — wholesale nfl jerseys next to the Los Angeles Rams’ Les Snead — in the league.

It’s also true that Mel Kiper’s fashionable and ever-evolving hairstyle has been the envy of draft analysts from coast to coast for decades.

So it’s only fitting that Kiper played the role of the Bears general manager in place of Pace in ESPN’s 2018 ‘Grade: A’ three-round mock draft, released this week.

To be clear, Kiper is not making these picks based on the scuttlebutt he hears around the league as the draft approaches. Rather, the draft guru is making what he considers the best choices for each team at each given slot.

Because the Bears currently do not have a third-round pick — by virtue of last year’s trade with San Francisco to move up one spot for quarterback Mitchell Trubisky — Kiper only made a pair of choices for the Bears.

At No. 8 overall, Kiper is standing firm with Chicago drafting Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson.

As we’ve detailed on numerous occasions, the idea of Chicago’s selecting Nelson makes sense on several levels — even though the value attached to a guard that early in the draft is relatively low.

The Bears have a clear need at guard after the team declined veteran Josh Sitton’s teamoption, and Nelson is widely considered the best offensive line prospect in the draft, nfl jerseys from china and he played for new Bears offensive line coach Harry Hiestand at Notre Dame. Nelson is built like an offensive tackle, so the possibility of moving him to right tackle — Bobby Massie’s contract expires after the 2018 season — sounds plausible.

Plus, three-time Pro Bowler Kyle Long is battling back from three separate surgical procedures. Long said emphatically last week that he’ll be cleared by the beginning of the regular season, he’s missed 14 games over the past two years.

Marquette King Agrees to 3-Year Contract with Broncos; Worth Reported $7 Million

The Denver Broncos and free-agent punter Marquette King agreed to terms Thursday on a three-year deal, the team announced.official nfl jerseys cheap

Mike Klis of 9News in Denver first reported the news. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the deal is worth $7 million.

The Oakland Raiders waived King, 29, on March 30 after he spent the past half-decade serving as a special teams stalwart in the Bay Area.

Over his five years as a starter, King averaged 46.8 yards per punt. Last season, the Fort Valley State product averaged 47.4 yards per punt and finished third in net punting average at 42.7 yards.

The only players who ranked ahead of him in that stat—which accounts for touchbacks and returns—were Brett Kern of the Tennessee Titans (44.6) and Johnny Hekker of the Los Angeles Rams (44.3).

The Broncos’ decision to sign King likely puts current punter Riley Dixon on the chopping block.

Denver selected the former Syracuse standout in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL draft. He averaged 45.6 yards per punt this past season, but he also had a league-high two punts blocked.

Denver ranked 27th in the NFL in reebok nfl jerseys net punting average last season with Dixon, while the Raiders were third behind the leg of King.

Michael Bennett’s Lawyer Calls Felony Charge from Super Bowl 51 ‘Ludicrous’

A lawyer for Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett called the felony charge of injury to the elderly filed against his client following an alleged incident at Super Bowl LI “ludicrous.”

On Saturday, wholesale nfl jerseys attorney Rusty Hardin told Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media the situation, in which Bennett is accused of injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic member of the security team following the NFL title game at NRG Stadium in Houston last year, wasn’t violent.

“There was no fighting, there was no pushing,” Hardin said. “The entire thing is ludicrous. That’s what I think we’ll find when it’s all over.”

Houston Police Department chief Art Acevedo held a press conference after the felony charge was announced and called Bennett’s alleged actions “pathetic.”

“He’s morally bankrupt,” Acevedo told reporters. “There’s no excuse for that. None. Zero.”

He added the woman involved, who uses an 800-pound motorized wheelchair, suffered a sprained shoulder.

Bennett was trying to access the field to celebrate with his brother, former New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett, when security stopped him. Hardin explained to Rosenblatt that there was a misunderstanding and his client had the proper credentials.

“The people they were trying to stop (Bennett and his family) had badges that said they could go on the field,” Hardin said. “That always is the case at the Super Bowl. They always let the players down with their families to celebrate with their loved ones.”

He also said Acevedo’s comments on the matter were “uninformed.”

Bennett is due back in court April 23, nfl jerseys china but Hardin said he may try to move the next appearance as he continues to gather information.

Aduana Stars destroy Fosa Juniors, mixed fortunes for Nigeria’s quartet

Aduana Stars were the big winners in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff round during an exciting weekend of action across Africa, although there were mixed fortunes for Nigeria’s four representatives.

In the most high-profile clash of the weekend, official nfl jerseys cheap Raja Casablanca secured a valuable 2-0 victory away at Zanaco, but last year’s finalists SuperSport United are in danger after a home defeat by Gor Mahia.

However, the weekend belongs to the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, who romped to a 6-1 victory over Madagascar’s Fosa Juniors to take a giant step towards the group stage.

Stars were dumped out of the CAF Champions League after being defeated by Algeria’s ES Setif, but put their mixed start to their domestic season behind them to smash the Juniors.

The hosts even fell behind after Jose Alain Randrianantenaina fired home the opener, but doubles for Sam Adams and Elvis Opoku, as well as further strikes from Bright Adjei and Zakaria Mumuni secured a convincing triumph.

Stars are Ghana’s last standing representatives in continental competition, but the Nigeria Professional Football League headed into this round with hopes that all four of their clubs would reach the Confederation Cup.

Things are looking a little bleaker for two of their contenders, after MFM FC and Akwa United were defeated by Djoliba and Al-Hilal on Sunday evening.

Debutants MFM FC will have been counting on a favourable draw and partisan support in their Lagos home to secure a big first-leg victory, but Mohamed Cisse’s goal secured an away win for the Malians as they take control of the tie.

Aiteo Cup holders were already up against it reebok nfl jerseys after being pitted against Sudanese heavyweights Al-Hilal, and their task was made much tougher after the Omdurman giants netted twice inside the first half an hour.

Harry Kane: ‘I believe I can’ pass Mohammed Salah for Golden Boot

Tottenham striker Harry Kane remains confident he can pip Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

Kane is bidding to finish the campaign as the division’s nfl jerseys from china top scorer for a third successive season, a feat no player has managed since Thierry Henry did it between 2003 and 2006.

Yet Kane, who has scored 24 times in the league, currently trails Salah by five goals having seen the Egyptian bag five against Watford and Crystal Palace while his nearest rival was out injured last month.

Spurs have six top-flight games remaining, while the Reds only have five, and Kane is convinced he can surpass Salah’s total haul.

“I still believe I can,” the England international said. “Look, whatever happens, there are still games to go. I’ve got to focus on my game. I can’t control what he does.

“Obviously as a striker, it would be great to win the Golden Boot again and I will keep working hard from now until the end of the season.”

Kane’s cause would be helped if he is credited with Tottenham’s winner against Stoke on Saturday, even though the Premier League Match Centre determined Christian Eriksen was the scorer.

Kane is adamant Eriksen’s free kick grazed his shoulder before the ball went past Potters goalkeeper Jack Butland and Spurs could decide to appeal against the decision to award their Danish midfielder with the goal.

“I swear on my daughter’s life that I touched the ball, but there’s nothing I can do,” Kane argued. “If [the Premier League] turn it around, they turn it around. If they take my word, they take my word.

Time is running out for Stoke to preserve their Premier League status as they remain four points adrift of safety with only five matches remaining.

Having recently played Spurs, Manchester City and Arsenal, official nfl jerseys cheap their boss Paul Lambert believes they need three victories from a run-in that features encounters with West Ham, Burnley, Liverpool, Palace and Swansea.

Packers might revamp right side of O-line in attempt to get younger

The Green Bay Packers don’t know if Jahri Evans wants to play anymore, and they can’t know if Bryan Bulaga will be able to play anymore — cheap new nfl jerseys at least at the level they would expect from a high-priced, starting right tackle.

Even if Evans doesn’t retire, indications are the Packers likely will move on from the 34-year-old right guard to get younger.

The Packers already made one salary-cap-related cut this offseason when they moved on from receiver Jordy Nelson. They could pick up another $4,703,125 if they dumped Bulaga; the cap savings would jump to $6,303,125 if they made him a post-June 1 cut. Teams no longer have to wait until that date to gain the extra savings; they could release him at any time but designate it as a post-June 1 move for cap purposes.

For his part, Bulaga said last month on ESPN Milwaukee radio that he had received no indication from the Packers that they might let him go. Complicating the matter is when Bulaga was injured. He tore his ACL on Nov. 6, which could make it more difficult for him to be ready for the season opener. His previous ACL injury occurred during the 2013 training camp, which allowed him to return for the 2014 season opener.

As for Bulaga, while the recovery from the second ACL reconstruction of his career apparently is on schedule, there’s the issue of whether the Packers want to spend $6.75 million in cash and use $7,903,125 in salary-cap space on a player with an injury history.

“I think he can develop into [a full-time starter],” McCarthy said. “When you look at McCray and what he’s had to do, as far as he’s playing three positions every day in practice because he has to take his snaps as the third center and an ability to play guard. Because the center/guard, there’s so much more communication. And then when you kick out to tackle, it’s a whole different world from a footwork and fundamental standpoint. Really, what he did last year is pretty special.”

Murphy could also be a multi-positional player, although he’s probably best suited to play right tackle.

“The tackle position, are the new nfl jerseys stitched you have Bryan and Jason there,” McCarthy said. “Kyle Murphy, he’s been in there working out, so we’ll see where he’s at. It’s going to be a wide-open competition. I think you have to really feel good about what Justin has done, and so I would have to say it’s wide open.”

Bears’ Kyle Long certain he’ll be ‘full go’ by regular season

Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long vowed Tuesday that he’ll be fully recovered from three separate surgical procedures on his neck, nfl new jerseys shoulder and elbow by the beginning of the regular season.

“If it were up to me, I’d be full go right now,” said Long, who was honored at luncheon Tuesday as the Bears’ 2017 recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award.

“I feel as if I am [ready to go], but there are certain things that are time-sensitive that we have to follow a certain timeline with — the neck being one of them. As you know, it’s not something you want to take lightly. We’re going to take all the time we need, but there will be no limitations once the season rolls around.”

Long has been ravaged by injuries during the past two seasons. Chicago’s first-round pick in 2013, Long suffered a gruesome ankle injury in 2016 that cost him the final eight games that year and the first two games of the 2017 season.

Long later landed on injured reserve on Dec. 5. In total, Long — named to three Pro Bowls — appeared in just 10 games (nine starts) for the 5-11 Bears last season.

“I can tell you my neck wasn’t structurally the way it was supposed to be,” Long said. “I had some nerve issues that contributed a lot to the shoulder that I had been complaining about for a while. Immediately when I woke up [from surgery], I put arms over my head and my dad looked at me like, ‘you haven’t done that in a very long time.’ Like I said, credit to the doctors and the surgeons who have done a great job, and credit to my teammates who have kept my spirits up.”

Added Long: “It comes with the territory. cheap new nfl jerseys I signed up for this. I love seeing the teammates and seeing the reaction on their face when I’m actually walking into the building and not in a wheelchair.”

The Bears are counting on Long to play a sizable role in Chicago’s rebuilding effort under new head coach Matt Nagy. Long’s $7,348,158 total salary for 2018 became fully guaranteed on the third day of the league year. He’ll count $8,848,158 against Chicago’s salary cap in 2018.
